Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common disorders affecting children. Symptoms of ADHD include inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. ADHD is usually identified in school-aged children where it leads to disruption in the classroom or problems with schoolwork.

ADHD affects a significant part of the population and causes significant behavioral problems, learning limitations within the formal education system and increased chances of social exclusion.

Current approaches to treatment result in high costs for healthcare systems and individuals, while the widespread use of stimulant medications remains controversial due to unwanted side effects.

The project FocusLocus, upon which the ThinkUp! project is based, was funded as an EU H2020 Innovation Action and has developed an innovative low-cost alternative gamified intervention program to help children manage and overcome ADHD symptoms.
